Corporate Social Responsibilities

Because we are a caring company, we don’t just look after our customers. We are fully aware of our corporate social responsibilities and believe in assisting the community at a local, national and international level. Viva Gas therefore supports the following charities:

Bolivia Project

As part of our corporate social responsibilities on an international level we will be sponsoring a visit to Bolivia by two suitably qualified people who can offer physiotherapy sessions to children from deprived areas.

Many children living in Bolivia are faced with hardship and have family problems. Consequently, they have to deal with a lot of social or behavioural issues.

Our two volunteers will spend a year in Bolivia where they will work with underprivileged children, teaching them skills such as English. They will also aim to get the children involved in pleasurable pastimes by teaching them games including football. This will help to raise their self-esteem and give them a sense of involvement.

Take a look at the photographs of our work in Bolivia.

The Light House Group – http://www.tlg.org.uk

The Lighthouse Group (TLG) is a Christian charity whose focus is on helping young people who need extra support. This could be because they have been excluded from school or risk being excluded, or because they are having difficulties with their education for some other reason. TLG gives children with problems a second chance – these are usually young people that are coping with a variety of personal issues such as family breakdown, poverty, lack of parental support, bereavement, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, bullying, gang culture, mental illness, other illnesses etc.

TLG runs centres in Bradford, Manchester, Birmingham, Hammersmith, Lambeth and Reading. The group provides a range of positive experiences to encourage young people back into education and/or employment and has a number of services available to youngsters, including GCSE equivalent qualifications.

In carrying out its activities TLG tackles the issues surrounding behavioural difficulties. TLG’s unique educational programmes help young people to develop learning skills that can pave the way to opportunities which give them a brighter future. Saint John’s Bowling Church

At local level we are fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities by supporting Saint John’s Bowling Church. This is a Yorkshire based church that runs various outreach projects through their charity, the Olive Branch Trust. We will be offering them financial assistance to help them carry out these projects.

The Olive Branch Trust began in 1983 with the aim of helping the community in South Bradford. It works with families and youths and currently employs about 25 people. The trust has grown to such an extent that it now also provides services outside Bradford. Many community members benefit enormously through the work of the trust. You can find out more about the Olive Branch Trust at: http://www.olivebranchtrust.org.uk.
