Toilet Problems

top banner

Firstly, Do not keep trying to flush the toilet as this can cause your toilet to overflow and flood your bathroom.

There are all kinds of tools which can be purchased to push the blockage through, however a traditional mop is what we find is most effective. Using a firm motion pushing the mop into the toilet pan repeatedly often moves the blockage.

If this method does not unblock the toilet, it is worth purchasing a pump. They look like a plunger with a long plastic body and have a handle at the top which are used for pumping. Push the plunger end into the toilet, seat it into the pan and start to pump.

Should both these methods fail it indicates a blocked drain and I would strongly recommend calling Viva Gas so we can attend and rectify the problem.

Remove the cistern lid and inspect the flush leaver or handle to make sure it is connected

If it is connected and seems to be functioning correctly the syphon diaphragm is the next thing to check, it possibly split and requires replacing
