Saving you money with Power Flushing
Did you Know that Power Flushing can Save you Money?
That’s because when you have your central heating system power flushed, it works more efficiently. Therefore, you won’t have to switch your heating up as high or for as long. Other benefits of power flushing are:
- You save on repairs due to damage caused by a blocked up system
- Your central heating system lasts longer
- Your home feels warmer as heat is distributed more efficiently
- It provides long term protection, preventing damage in the future.
What is Power Flushing?
Rust occurs internally within most central heating systems as a matter of wear & tear, producing a black (iron oxide) sludge. The sludge is then pumped around the system and blocks up the boiler, pump, radiators and pipe work.
To clear a central heating system of harmful sludge the system is chemically cleaned using a power flush machine, which forces the debris out of the boiler, pump, radiators and pipe work. The dirty water is then replaced with clean, treated water. An inhibitor is then added to the system which will protect it against corrosion for up to 4 years. These actions will increase the efficient operation of a central heating system.
Power flushing is the most effective method for flushing a central heating system due to the high pressure that is used and the chemicals that are added.
What does a Power Flush Entail?
Whilst your central heating system is being power flushed you won’t be able to use your heating so you might prefer to have it done during the summer. However, it can take as little as two hours so you won’t have to be without your heating for long.
Because of the nature of this process, sludge and debris will be discharged from your central heating system. However, with years of experience behind us, our heating engineers know how to power flush a central heating system cleanly and effectively. That means we will get the job done as quickly as possible, with minimum fuss and we won’t leave a mess.
Why do I Need it?
There are a few signs which may indicate that your central heating system needs power flushing:
- There are cold spots on the radiators – this is because the hot water is prevented from reaching all parts of the radiator due to the build-up of sludge.
- There is excessive venting of radiators – because the water cannot travel as freely, the available space is filled with air
- Fuel bills are excessive – because the system isn’t working as efficiently it will take more fuel to produce the same amount of heat.
- The boiler or central heating system is noisy – this is because there is air trapped in the system as well as loose pieces of debris being pumped around.

Is it Expensive?
In terms of the money that power flushing can save you in the long run, it is a worthwhile investment. After your system has been power flushed, you can expect an average saving of up to 30% on your heating bills. It can therefore be considered relatively inexpensive.
The price for power flushing your central heating system will depend on the size of your property. We are very competitive on price so why not contact us today for a quotation on telephone number: 08006 123177 or 01274 723936, or email: info@vivagas.co.uk?
Viva Gas – Your Friendly, Convenient Plumbers!
Mrs Swallow
After discovering the bottom part of some of my radiators were never getting warm, I rang Viva Gas for some advise. They were very helpful and sent out an engineer straight away who power flushed my central heating system. Its now working like it is brand new.
